MATTHEW COLCOMBE led Longley Park to the last promotion place in the Yorkshire Division Seven Team championship at Teesside to advance the Huddersfield club to the Division Six event at Silkstone on May 5.

Colcombe shot 72 73, losing out on the prize for the best second round on a countback.

Importantly, teammate Adam Walker improved by 11 shots on his first round with an outstanding 70 and Jack Doherty was nine strokes better over the second circuit as Longley finished six shots better than Doncaster in the chase for the last promotion spot.

Tankersley Park carried off the title by a 12 strokes margin ahead of Headingley, while Halifax were among those to miss out on promotion.
