OUTLANE duo Gary Gough and Keon Ryall conquered very windy conditions at Ryburn to land the Alliance’s Ronnie Parkinson Memorial Trophy.
Gough, a 20-handicapper, and Ryall (15) scored a magnificent 43 points for a six-point success.
Their front nine of 23 points was the highest of the competition, and they backed that up with a solid 20 points on the inward nine for a comfortable win.
In second place were Gary Broadbent (12) and David Hawksworth (20), from Crow Nest Park, with 37 points.
There was a hole in one by Ray Attiwell of Ryburn to win the nearest the pin competition on the ninth.
He was in the last group out and got the second ace of his career with a three iron.
In the professional section, there was a tie in the clubhouse for top spot between Dave Astin and Chris Hanson on 37 points.
However, the last professional to finish was Rob Booth and his partner Clive McFadzean (4), from Bradley Hall, who amassed 40 points in the tough conditions to grab victory.
It was Booth’s first win in the Alliance while for McFadzean it added to his victory at Willow Valley.
Astin and Hanson are first and second in the Professionals’ Order of Merit sponsored by The Beckside Bed Company. Astin picked up £150 for first place and Hanson £100 for second.
At the presentation, Barry Isles was thanked for all his organising work, assisted by James Washington.
The president of the Alliance, professional Jim Crompton, also announced that Richard Badrock of Castlefields has accepted the offer of being next year’s president.
