ROY JOHNSON, of Meltham, was the winner in the Huddersfield Wednesday Golf Society meeting held at Outlane.
The 14-handicapper carded 34 points to pip his Meltham clubmate Brendan Barrett by one point, who in turn edged out the host club’s Alan Arrowsmith on a countback.
Albert Stevenson, of Marsden, was the Division II winner, coming home with 31 points from his 17 handicap, two ahead of Dewsbury’s Alan Thomas.
The next meeting, on Wednesday (May 20) is at Dewsbury.
Div I: Roy Johnson (Meltham) 14-34, Brendan Barrett (Meltham) 10-33; Alan Arrowsmith (Outlane) 15-33; Dave Law (Meltham) 9-32; Steve Braithwaite (Bradley Park) 14-32.
Div II: Albert Stevenson (Marsden) 17-31; Alan Thomas (Dewsbury) 18-29.
John Cocking won the previous Wednesday Society meeting at Bradley Park, where there were 23 entries.
The nine handicapper scored 33 points to pip Outlane’s 13-handicap Neil Morrison on 32.
Meltham’s Chris Naylor (off 16) won Division II with 33 points.
