ROY JOHNSON and his Meltham partner Chris Holmes gained revenge on Dewsbury’s Adam Crum and Rob Speight at the Halifax, Huddersfield Alliance meeting at Ogden.

For the second meeting in succession the two pairs shared top spot in the Am-Am section with 43 points apiece, but unlike the Outlane outcome when Crum and his partner Jimmy Main had the better back nine, on this occasion it was Johnson (14) and Holmes (6) who triumphed with a gross birdie and an eagle to notch 24 points on the inward half.

In the Pro-Am section, Bradley Park professional Chris Foster and his partner Oliver Barstow (6) took top spot with 42 points.

Barstow contributed three three-pointers and a four-pointer to go alongside Foster’s solid performance to leave them just one point ahead of home pro David Delaney and Simon Wilson (3) who pipped Bradley Hall’s Roy Booth and Alan Hare (4) and Woodsome’s Chris Hanson and John Doherty (5) on countback.

For the first time in the new Alliance season, the Ogden event attracted over 100 golfers, with 14 professionals entering.

The next meeting is at West End on Thursday, October 29.
