FIXBY teenager Helen Searle is a reserve for Yorkshire when they contest the Northern Counties championship against Lancashire, Cheshire, Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria at Heswall on June 22-26, the winners qualifying for the English Womens County championship at Pleasington on September 14-18.

Searle was a member of the Yorkshire team that claimed the English title for a record fifth successive year last season.

Curtis Cup international Jodi Ewart, a leading player on the US college circuit, was an automatic choice, but Yorkshire’s team selection is based to some extent on performances in the county championship and Searle, runner-up last season, missed the recent event at Fulford.

Yorkshire: Naomi Edwards (Ganton), Emma Brown (Malton & Norton), Sara Garbutt (Ganton), Kim Crooks (Saltburn), Laura Harvey (Richmond), Nicola Dunn (Harrogate), Jodi Ewart (Catterick), Ellie Robinson (Middlesbrough. Reserves: Megan Garland (Selby), Sophie Godley (Lindrick), Helen Searle (Huddersfield).
