WITH Tony Bower (Elland) having resigned and Steve Bricklebank (Bradley Park) having taken a similar step, the posts of competition secretary and assistant will need to be filled at the annual meeting of the Halifax, Huddersfield Union at Fixby on March 2 (8.00), when Queensbury’s Geoff Ralph will step up as president.
Vacancies on the Executive Committee also need to be filled and clubs have been invited to nominate.
Union secretary John Lawrence said: “Exec members are required to retire by rotation but can seek re-election with the support of their club. Each year the immediate Past President can seek election to the Executive. In addition this year Tony Bower is not seeking re-election so, in effect, has resigned, and Steve Bricklebank has also done so due to ill health.
“There are opportunities for any playing member interested in golf administration, particularly competitions where state of the art software is used that does all the work for us. There is, therefore, nothing to fear from wrong interpretation of the information.
“It is an ideal situation for anyone that feels they have had plenty from golf and would like to give something back.”
