The Halifax-Huddersfield major competition season comes to a head tomorrow with a host of match-ups.

The Union Scratch, Handicap and Junior Foursomes tee off at Saddleworth.

Record-breaking 11-times champion Andrew Whitworth, of Bradley Hall, is again in contention for the Union’s JR Crawshaw Memorial Trophy.

But first he has to get past formidable quarter-final opposition in the form of three-times winner Richard Broadley, Fixby, at Willow Valley today.

The semi finals will be played straight afterwards.

The eight man line-up is: Ed Battye, Bradley Park, Josh Morton, Huddersfield, Matthew Colcombe, Woodsome Hall, David Stafford, Todmorden, Chris Ingham, West End, Thomas Calvert, Huddersfield, Andrew Whitworth and Richard Broadley.

Meanwhile, the District’s Rabbits will be battling it out for the individual RT Morley Trophy, the Mellor Club Trophy and the League Cup at Ogden.

Last Sunday the Rabbits held their semi finals at Longley Park. From a starting field of 160 in the individual matchplay, Castlefield’s Fred Leek and Willow Valley’s Nathan Dadd have won through to the final of the RT Morley Trophy.

In the fourball betterball Mellor Club Trophy, Elland beat Outlane in Section A, while Meltham lost out to Outlane in Section B.

In the League Cup, again a fourball betterball knockout, Willow Valley beat Castlefields to set up a showdown with home club Ogden, who knocked out Dewsbury District.
