Huddersfield’s junior team has just rounded off an extremely successful season.

Last weekend the juniors once again won the final of the Halifax Huddersfield and District Golf Union junior foursomes knockout trophy, making it three in a row.

Josh Morton and Tom North (deputising for Megan Lockett who was away playing for the Welsh Ladies’ team) beat the Bradley Hall pairing 7&6 at Crosland Heath.

The team has also won the eastern division of the Union Junior Golf League, as well as the quarter and semi finals of the knockout stages.

They eventually overcame Outlane in the final to become Union Junior League champions and go on to
represent the Union in the regional finals at Leeds Golf Centre a week on Sunday.

This was on top of the union junior team championship back in May.

Josh Morton has won through to the final of the Union junior matchplay final at Saddleworth tomorrow – he plays Jonathan Fleetwood in defence of his title, having beaten clubmate Jake Hamilton last year.

Fixby junior organiser, David
Beecham, said: “It’s also good to see a new crop of juniors beginning to come through the ranks. Amongst those are Ben Walker and Jessica Hosking – names to look out for in the future.”

David, who is stepping down at the end of the year, added: “It has been a privilege to oversee many fine juniors develop at the club for the past seven years.”

“He has worked closely with Alex Keighley and a strong junior committee to provide such a strong junior section at the club.”
