Senior professional Paul Carman has joined the John Letters Teaching Academy and Stadium as a coach.

Carman has been sponsored by John Letters for the last two years and during that time has spent a lot of time practising at the stadium.

Academy owner and director Neil Reeves offered him the opportunity to join as a teaching professional, which Carman will fit around his commitments to the Senior Tour.

Reeves said: “Paul has a vast knowledge of the game as a player. I think we will be a real asset to the business here and we are very pleased he has come on board.

“We now have five PGA professionals coaching here and we coach over 100 students a week, from children right through to Tour professionals. “It is a busy time now at the beginning of the new golf season, and Lee Shepherd is doing all the Union junior coaching.

“Coaching has got very high tech; we have the computerised V1 coaching system. We can send people’s swings and lesson summaries to them by email as well as the notes on what part of the swing they have to work on.”

Carman added: “The facilities at the Academy are fantastic. I will be rekindling some of my old clients and doing the coaching three days a week.

“The coaching won’t affect my playing, it will fit around that - we have already booked my diary until October and it’s brilliant that it will fit in with my playing.”

Carman is currently playing in Pro-Ams until the season gets into full swing.

His first major tournament is the Senior PGA Professional Championship at Foxhills Golf Club, Surrey, from May 14 to 16.
