THERE was a bumper entry for the Huddersfield Wednesday Society’s Captain’s Day at Meltham.
A total of 36 golfers joined Chris Holmes for his main event on the calendar with home players Nick Leader and the Thick Hollins club captain Martin Latham scooping the main prizes.
Leader, playing off a handicap of seven, was the overall winner after carding 36 points in less than easy conditions, while Latham (off 10) took the Division I prize with 35 points, winning on a back nine countback from his counterpart at Outlane, David Berry.
Third spot went to another Outlane member, Neil Morrison with 34, who pipped Meltham’s Brendan Barrett on the last six, although the latter did have some consolation with a nearest the pin prize on the 12th.
