Bradley Hall’s Autumn Stableford with Paul Firth heading the way.

The club’s final competition of the summer, was played in perfect weather with bright sunshine, throughout the day, temperatures in the mid 60's and a light wind.

Coupled with a course in the pink of condition, it was not surprising that a lot of good scores were returned.

In Division I, the early pace setters were Colin Walker (15) and his playing partner, Gary Parker (11), with scores of 38 and 37 respectively.

They remained in the lead until well into the afternoon when Paul Firth (9) and James Fairhurst (1) posted scores of 40 and 39, along with Mick Taylor (13), also with 39.

David Whitaker then moved into fifth place with another 38.

In Division II (16-28), the best score of the season from any golfer came from a relatively new member, Carl Ainley (22), who amassed a magnificent total of 44 points and in the process reduced his handicap by five full strokes.

In second place was Graham Cockburn (18) with 38, followed by Paul Avis (21) on 37, and Club President Ernie Howker (16) in fourth with the only 36.

Unlike last season, when the poor weather caused a fixture backlog with the number of competitions being re-scheduled, this year has gone without a hitch and every competition has been successfully completed.

The winter season gets underway with a variety of competitions being run by the club’s professional Dave Delaney on a weekly basis and open to any member to participate.
