FORMBY Hall, near Southport, and Faithlegg, at Waterford in Ireland, return to the PGA Europro Tour schedule this season, two of 13 events assured with more to come.

Tour regulars like Crosland Heath man Chris Hanson will be keen to triumph at Faithlegg, which has regained its May slot, as previous winners have gone on to win the order of merit crown.

First stage of the qualifying school is at four venues including Forest Park, Scunthorpe, on March 31-April 1 with the final at Frilford Heath, Oxford on April 6-9.

FREE golf coaching for beginners is just one of several initiatives within the ‘Get into Golf’ grass roots structure developed by the English Golf Union and English Women’s Golf Association, supported by the England Golf Partnership.

The Lightcliffe club is holding free taster sessions for adults on March 30-31, May 4-11 and June 9-15 from 4pm-6pm.

They are also offering taster sessions to juniors on various dates throughout April and May.

The taster sessions are open to beginners, including non members, and provide an ideal opportunity to experience golf.

Free coaching and the above activities are part of the Lightcliffe’s coaching initiative provided by the EGU and the EWGA.

It is designed to help people of any age, gender or background to experience the game of golf.

Many golf clubs have been able to offer free golf coaching taster sessions for a number of years now through their relationship with the EGU and EWGA and have introduced thousands of beginners to golf and golf clubs.

It is one of several initiatives jointly provided by the EGU and EWGA via England Golf’s ‘Whole Sport Plan’ for golf and is an integral part of England Golf’s vision to ‘Grow the Game’.
