CATH LAWSON made it three on the trot when she lifted the Huddersfield Ladies Snooker Championship, beating Zoe Wilson in the final at Newsome WMC.

Although winning 2-0, it was a close affair as the methodical Lawson, from Milnsbridge Socialist Club won the first frame on the pink and then just edged home in a black-ball game to also win the second for her third title in succession.

Like Robert Read in the men’s Championship, Lawson is starting to make the title her own, the 2008 success being her fifth in total.

But unlike other years, she was pushed all the way this time by Moldgreen Conservative Club player Wilson, who is probably one of the brightest prospects on the Ladies Snooker scene in Huddersfield.
