HUDDERSFIELD sides all suffered heavy defeats in their Yorkshire League Veterans matches.

A strong Second team of Ian Tweedale, Dave Wood and Keith Skarz travelled to Hull Thirds and lost 9-1, with Wood picking up the solitary win.

It was a similar fate for the Third team of Peter Walker, Barry Drain and Stewart Clarke, who went down at home to Dewsbury. Walker was the only victor in another 9-1 defeat.

Home advantage did not prove at all beneficial for the Fourth team of David Blackburn, Francis Cioffi and Kingsley Smith, who sunk to a 10-0 defeat against York.

Next Sunday the First team travel to Hull for the next round of three matches all played on the same day.

They need to win at least one and possibly two of their three – against York I and II and Doncaster – to ease relegation worries.

Captain Janet Adams, who will be without Tim Dyson in her line-up, will hope she can travel with a strong squad of four or five players to give options as the day unfolds.
