Huddersfield beat Bradford seconds 4-2 at home in their latest fixture in the Yorkshire Snooker League.

Conrad Norcliffe won the opening frame against Gareth Green, but the Bradford cue man responded by taking the second to level the match.

Robert Armitage made an appearance for the Huddersfield side, taking both of his frames in gritty style against captain Haneef Rafiq to put the hosts 3-1 up.

Michael Whaley was on last against Gareth’s brother Anthony, but neither player seemed to be in full flow.

Green took a scrappy fifth frame, he could have also had the last frame after potting an excellent pink when black remained, but an unfortunate miscue cost Bradford a draw.

Scores: C Norcliffe v G Green 52-33, 1-77; R Armitage v H Rafiq 55-47, 55-42; M Whaley v A Green 43-57, 55-48.

In the Huddersfield Sunday School’s Billiards League, defending champions Brockholes BC got their defence off to a brilliant start with victory over Paddock Conservatives and New North Road A – both fixtures resulted in 3-0 wins for Brockholes BC.

Their current captain and current Huddersfield Open Billiards Champion, Matthew Peaker, helped himself to seven breaks of over 50 with the highest being a remarkable 86.

The back-to-back wins mean Brockholes remain top of the table with New North Road B heading the chasing pack.
