Tyrone Nurse aims to take up where he left off against Chris Jenkins in July when he resumes his British light-welterweight title bid in November.

The Huddersfield fighter had to make do with a majority draw verdict when he went toe to toe with the Swansea fighter in Manchester.

While one judge made Nurse a 117-112 winner, the other two tied an exciting bout at 115-115 and 114-114.

The second instalment of the Anglo-Welsh clash will be live on Sky at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Saturday, November 7.

It’s part of a big bill as Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding meet in an all-Liverpool super-middleweight showdown for the British belt.

Nurse, 25, aims to become the third Huddersfield boxer to win a British title after light-middleweight Prince Rodney and cruiserweight Mark Hobson.

He became the first fighter to deny Jenkins a victory as the 27-year-old fought professionally for the 17th time.

Half of his 16 wins have been by stoppage.

Nurse, who joined the paid ranks in 2008, has won 31 of his 34 bouts.

Trainer Chris Aston is confident Nurse can make it 32.

“It’s going to be tough, because we know Jenkins is a good fighter,” he said.

“But I thought Tyrone had him worked out by the halfway point of the first bout, and I’m not sure Jenkins can change his style too much.

“Hopefully Tyrone will take up where he left off and get the win a lot of people thought he should have had back in July.

Tickets details are available by ringing Aston on 07917 881114.

And the trainer added: “It’s shaping up to be a great night.

“The Smith-Fielding fight is attracting interest from far outside Liverpool.

“Nurse versus Jenkins was a cracker last time and there’s no reason why it won’t be again.”
