Huddersfield Dragons Ladies 1 University of Leeds Ladies II 1

THE LADIES first team could be pleased with their performance as being a step in the right direction on the results they have had in the past few weeks.

They had the majority of possession and within the first 10 minutes had a number of short corners but were not able to convert any of them which was the Dragons weakness throughout the game.

Leeds were very lucky to get a goal at the start of the second half but the Dragons did not give in and they kept battling hard, putting plenty of pressure on the Leeds defence. And eventually they were awarded a penalty flick, which captain Kelly Fillingham stepped up to take and slotted it past the keeper.

The Dragons kept pushing for a second goal but time just eluded them.

Dragons Ladies III 5 Driffield III 0

Dragons started well but it took until near the end of the first half before a superb run by Becky Pinder led to the first goal, which was then closely followed by a second, again scored by Pinder.

Ten minutes into the second half Becky Mallinson scored with a cracking hit from the top of the D, and following some super runs by Kerry Bottomley, Pinder notched her hat trick.

Driffield kept battling, but Dragons worked well and created some great plays with Amanda McCallum and Helen Clark strong in defence to deny the visitors, while Bottomley finished the match off with a great run and a fifth goal.
