HUDDERSFIELD’S Gaelic football club Brothers Pearse have brought forward their play-off challenge – so that their players can back Town’s.

The Pennine League promotion-chasing team will now take on Wolfe Tones in the Division II semi-finals in Liverpool on Saturday (4.00).

Leeds rivals Hugh O’Neill’s and St Benedict’s Harps meet in the other semi.

Brothers, aiming to make it back to the Pennine top flight at the first attempt, suffered their only Pennine League defeat so far at the hands of Wolfe Tones, who are in their first season.

The home side were 2-11 to 1-06 winners at Wavertree, but Brothers secretary Ollie Walsh said: “We were missing some key players for that game.

“Hopefully we’ll go back there on Saturday with a stronger side and we’ll be giving it our best.”

On Town’s challenge, Walsh added: “All the lads are keen to go to Old Trafford, so we’re grateful to Wolfe Tones for agreeing to alter the date.”
