Huddersfield Heat have the opportunity to gain promotion to the English Basketball League’s Men’s National Division I when they face up against London United this evening (5.30) and London Westside tomorrow (1.0) at Park Lane Learning Trust in a double-header.

Providing they can win one of those fixtures, Heat will finish the season as runners-up behind Derby Trailblazers in the EBL Men’s National Division II after missing out on the top spot with a disappointing 78-87 defeat to Worcester Wolves II.

However, despite the morale crushing loss against Worcester, Heat head coach Eduardo Perez Medina fully expects his side to bounce back and clinch promotion with two wins.

“This weekend will be a tough, especially the London United game as they are very much improved in the last three or four weeks,” said Perez Medina.

“They are young, they are energetic, they have picked up a few wins recently and they will give as good as they will get as the thing with young teams is that they will never give up.

“I think a lot of what they will do depends on whether Elvisi Dusha is playing, who is the starting guard for Surrey United in the BBL, because he is a good young talent.”

Heat are now down to only 10 active players as guard Kingsley Walker has left the club.
