It is the Great British Tennis Weekend – and free sessions are available in Huddersfield, writes Abdus Miah.

Hundreds of open days will be taking place at venues around the country offering free tennis and coaching for people of all ages and ability.

Huddersfield Lawn Tennis & Squash Club have organised a day of activity on Sunday.

It will take place in Greenhead Park from 2pm to 5pm and should get everyone into the tennis spirit with just over a month to go before Wimbledon.

Last year’s event attracted over 7,500 people to 39 venues. LTA Chief Executive, Michael Downey, said: “Tennis in Britain has enjoyed some fantastic results in the last 12 months. It’s about capitalising on the interest, so that when people are inspired by what our players do on court, we offer them an opportunity to get on court without cost being an issue.”
