Organisers hope to raise over £500 for Kirkwood Hospice at a charity billiards and snooker exhibition at New Mill Club in March.

Tickets are already selling well for the event on Monday, March 30, which will feature English Amateur billiards champion Rob Hall against opponents from Huddersfield.

Hall, who was also runner-up in the World billiards final to Pankaj Advani last year, will play three 45-minute billiards matches against Huddersfield champions Matthew Peaker, Brian Cousen and Tony Clegg.

He will also play three frames of snooker against John Lee, Robert Read and Robert Armitage.

Ticket price is £4, including a buffet supper, and those remaining are available from Steve Whiteley on 07712 134232.

Estate agents Boultons and Simon Blyth are jointly sponsoring the venture and various signed football and snooker items have been donated for auction.

“It’s all for the very good cause which is Kirkwood Hospice and the support we’ve had has already been very encouraging,” said Whiteley.

“Interest has been terrific, generous sponsorship is in place and it looks like we are going to be able to raise more than £500 for the hospice, which makes the whole event very worthwhile.

“The snooker and billiards, I have absolutely no doubt, will be tremendous to watch because all the players involved are champions in their own right, and if the night proves as successful as we hope, then we may well consider making it an annual event.”
