Holly HorsfallL has moved up 400 places in the Junior World tennis rankings after two weeks playing in Ireland.
The Hepworth teenager from Thongsbridge Tennis Club featured in the Dublin ITF at Donnybrook and then the Belfast ITF at Windsor Tennis Club.
At Donnybrook she made the main draw, going out in the last 32 to the No2 seed from Russia, Elena Belenova, 6-3, 6-4.
This was followed by a great run in the doubles, making it to the semi-finals but losing out to the No1 seeds.
In Belfast, Holly made the last 16 in the singles, beating Nicola Drummy of the Republic of Ireland in a close three sets, but she then lost out to the No1 seed, Karola Bejenaru, ranked 290 from Romania.
They played a very tight three-set match after Holly took the first set 6-2. She eventually lost out 6-2, 3-6, 4-6.
Holmfirth High student Horsfall again made the doubles semi-finals but once again lost out at that stage after beating the No1 seeds in the quarter-finals in another tight three-set match 6-7, 6-2, 10-8.
Overall it was an extremely successful trip and Horsfall collected 10 World ranking points which means she moves up to a junior ITF placing of 1391.
