Huddersfield’s Lydia Walker made her Netball Superleague debut as Yorkshire Jets got their fourth win in a row with a 65-56 win at Loughborough Lightning.

Walker, who will celebrate her 19th birthday at the end of the month, made her first appearance in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

It was the second time in a week the Jets were in a televised clash and they started strongly in attack and by the end of the first quarter they led by 11 points.

The second 15 minutes was more evenly matched but the gap continued to grow and at Jets went into half-time ahead by 37-25.

Head coach Anna Carter made changes to the jets side after the break with Nikki Smith coming on and Leeds Becketts University student Walker, who played her junior netball with Hudersfield Giants as well as the successful Greenhead College team, getting her first taste of Superleague.

However, the third quarter was a struggle for Jets with Lightning managing to pull the gap back to just four points with 15 minutes remaining.

There were more changes going into the final quarter with Brie Grierson returning to court.

The Jets didn’t panic and managed to regain their good form and extended their lead to win and remain third in the Superleague table.

After two games in 72 hours, Jets now have a week until they play next when they take on Team Northumbria in Hull next Monday.
