HAVING lost four of the first-team squad to injury, Town Ladies were always likely to struggle against skilful Blyth Spartans – and so it proved as they crashed 6-2.

Goals from Kate Mallin and Jade Robshaw kept Town in the game for a spell, but they were further hampered by the loss of goalkeeper Laura Carter with a recurring back injury.

Town will be hoping for the return of some of their injured players before Sunday’s home game against Ossett Albion in the second qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup.

The Under 13s maintained their 100% record as Alice Linsell cracked in a hat trick in the 9-0 victory over Hemsworth MW.

Playing with confidence, they produced some excellent football and were 5-0 up by half time with Rebecca Moore, Melissa Sutcliffe, Linsell and Jodie Berry netting twice.

In the second period, Lucy Ellis, Seana Potts and two more from Linsell completed the scoring.
