IF YOU want to experience a feelgood factor in the game go to Bootham Crescent.

Last week I took in the York City v Cambridge United game and, in stark contrast to recent seasons, I was immediately struck by the positivity surrounding the ground.

Three regular faces in the stands all told me before the match that York were playing the best football they’d seen in years, and I’m delighted to say that was confirmed over the ensuing 90 minutes.

Even when York were trailing 2-1 in the dying seconds the crowd were right behind the players and, sure enough, York grabbed a deserved equaliser through the prolific Jason Walker.

The striker had netted such a spectacular overhead kick in the previous game against Grimsby it has been seen through thousands of hits on the internet, and after Saturday’s 4-2 win at Hayes & Yeading I can confidently predict that the Minstermen have a great chance of winning back Football League status.
