HUDDERSFIELD showjumper Whitaker is raring to go after all Team GB’s horses passed the inspection in Hong Kong.

Their competition was taking place today, but without John’s brother Michael, whose horse Portofino 63 was ruled out lame.

For John, 54, this will be his fifth Olympic Games and he also claims the title of the oldest member of Team GB competing in Beijing

John partnered the famous Ryan’s Son to an Olympic team silver medal in Los Angeles in 1984 and this year he will be riding Rebecca Stones’ 11-year-old bay stallion, Peppermill.

Together John and Peppermill were the linchpin of the British team who secured not only the bronze medal at last year’s European Championships in Mannheim, Britain’s first show jumping medal for nine years, but also Great Britain’s place in the Hong Kong Games this summer.
