KIRKBURTON Karate Club are celebrating their 21st birthday with a twinning visit.

They have just enjoyed a celebration party at Highburton Village Hall and now 10 members are visiting Belgium.

The club played host to SENSEI Guy Van Den Eynde, a chief instructor from Herzele in Belgium, who took a class at the club.

Their link with Belgium came when Kirkburton’s own SENSEI instructor – club founder Colin Hanson – first visited to take some coaching sessions in 1992.

He has continued to run courses there ever since and will accompany the other members on their visit next week.
