THE Huddersfield-based Farrell MMA team returned from Italy with mixed emotions after representing England in an international mixed martial arts meeting.

While head coach Andy Farrell, the former Huddersfield Giants player, returned from Udine with an emphatic win added to his record, his teammate Karl Amos had to settle for a draw.

The event featured a number of different styles of martial arts with fighters from Austria, England, Italy, Japan, Spain and Turkey.

Farrell took on an Austrian professional fighter who was significantly taller, but the England man took an opportunity early on to push forward with a barrage of punches which rocked his opponent.

Farrell made the most of gaining the upper hand and within the first two minutes had won his bout.

Farrell is now looking to match up with some big UK names, and could also be looking at another eye-catching overseas date later in the year.

Amos was next up and went straight to business against his Italian opponent.

After the initial onslaught Amos was able to find his range and quickly became the more dominant fighter and Karl landed some big combinations which visibly rocked his Italian opponent.

He appeared to be well on top when the bell rang to signal the end of the bout and the Farrell MMA team were confident of a decision win – the Italian judges, however, had different ideas scoring the fight a draw.
