PHANTOM Tiger Taekwondo Club enjoyed a string of successes in the Northern Open Championships in Doncaster.

The Huddersfield club, who train at Total Fitness on Wakefield Road, Waterloo, brought back medals at both junior and senior level.

Successful for the juniors were Alex Wright (medal for continuous sparring), Caleb Richards (medal for patterns), Sam Richards (second place trophy in point-stop sparring), Jordan Hutchinson (second place in point-stop sparring) and Hassan Anwar (third place trophies in point-stop and continuous).

Continuing that success were Mason Cane (second place trophy in continuous sparring and third place trophy in point-stop), James Copley (third place trophy in patterns), Isaac Nash (second place trophy in point-stop sparring) and Xander Nash (medal for point-stop sparring).

For the seniors, who included Paul Wood, Nick Bentley and Leon Rousell in their team, Karen Mitchell took third place in sparring and Anthony Jackson picked up two trophies – second place continuous and third place point-stop sparring.

The club was founded by Mal Armstrong (3rd Degree) and the head coach is Nick Bentley (1st Degree). Assistant coaches are Karen Mitchell and Rhona Warnock (both 1st Degree).

Junior classes are on Sundays from 4pm to 5pm, with the seniors from 5pm to 6.30 and on Tuesday nights 7.45 to 9.15pm.
