TOTAL TAEKWONDO of Huddersfield have three North of England champions.

They also picked up 15 other trophies in the IMA North of England Championship n Doncaster.

The champions were Tristan Gray, Tom Jones and Alex Barnwell.

Total Taekwondo Martial Arts Schools had 70 competitors in taekwondo and kickboxing, ranging from five-year-olds through to senior black belts.

In the junior beginner division, (under 20kg) Oliver Talbot took second continuous, third in points and third in patterns. At U50kg, Aiden Bridges took second in continuous and second in points, while in the same division Gray was first in continuous and third in points.

In the Juniors and Intermediate, Jones took first in the continuous sparring as well as third in the points and a third in the mixed grade destruction event. It was in Juniors advanced that Barnwell achieved first place in the continuous sparring with a third in points and third in patterns.

In the Seniors advanced, Andrew Dobson was second in patterns and third in continuous, while Tom Norton took second in point sparring and a third in patterns.

The black belt section involved assistant instructor Karen Shore narrowly missing out in a strong, mixed division for sparring, with instructor David Cliffe taking a third in black belt patterns.

The club, which trains at Nirvana Fitness, off Chapel Hill, Huddersfield, and The Reform Church at Kirkheaton, has been established for over 10 years and runs classes for taekwondo, freestyle kickboxing and fitness.
