MIXED martial arts legend and rising Hollywood actor Randy Couture is heading for Huddersfield.

Sylvester Stallone’s co-star in the Expendables, the sequel of which is released this summer, will be at the Old Golf House Hotel, Outlane on Tuesday, May 15 (doors open 5.30).

The question and answer night is being organised by Huddersfield’s MMA ace Andy Farrell, who runs a highly successful stable of fighters from his gym at Milnsbridge.

Las Vegas-based Couture, 48, made his name in America’s Ultimate Fighting Championship.

He was the first fighter to hold UFC championship titles in two different divisions (heavyweight and light heavyweight).

Nicknamed ‘The Natural’, now-retired Couture competed in a record 15 title fights and holds the most title reigns with five.

The Huddersfield visit comes during a promotional tour for this summer’s blockbuster The Expendables 2 (starring Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Jean-Claude Van Damme).

Tickets cost £34.99, including a free copy of Couture’s new book ‘The Last Round’, and are available from Farrell on 07815 046374.

Mixed martial arts blends several fighting styles from boxing and kick-boxing to wrestling and ju-jitsu.

Highly-trained competitors wear light mitts, which stops the sport from being bare-knuckle but means punches still have maximum impact.
