A 10-mile charity challenge in the Colne Valley attracted people from all over the country.

The annual challenge is organised by Colne Valley Lions and this year attracted 220 runners and walkers who enjoyed the course up the Wessenden Valley as far as Deerhill Reservoir.

It has raised more than £2,000 for a host of charities including Hollybank Trust in Mirfield which cares for children and adults with multiple and profound disabilities.

Committee member Sharon Topham said: “We had 160 runners and the rest walked the route. People came from all over including Hertfordshire, Blackpool and Hartlepool because they say it’s the friendly race.”

The challenge set off from Marsden Conservative Club and those who took part returned there for food afterwards.
