BRIGHOUSE racer Phil Marshall is looking to keep up his series of podium finishes on ‘home’ soil at the weekend.

In his first year of racing in the MAX5 Racing Championship, Marshall has had to be selective about attending meetings due to funds, but has so far taken part in three rounds – and has produced three podium finishes from his six races.

Marshall decided to take the plunge this year and obtained his National B race licence and purchased a Mazda MX5, which was to be transformed into a race car over the winter in time for the 2012 season.

So far Marshall has raced at Pembrey, Croft and Brands Hatch, but then sat out the meeting at Anglesey in June due to lack of funds.

However, he will be looking to impress again on a second visit this season to North Yorkshire at the Croft circuit on Saturday and Sunday.

“It is my first season of racing and I have been learning a lot,” said Marshall.

“I have always been interested in racing and I thought that this year I would just have a crack at it and it has been brilliant with a couple of trophies already.

“We started out with a six hour trail to South Wales to race at Pembrey, which was all a bit of an eye-opener.

“But I have my fingers crossed for another good run at Croft at the weekend.

“We went to Croft earlier in the year and it was a virtual washout. It was just a case of staying on the track as others were spinning off and I got to the finish and got a trophy at the end of it.”

Marshall still has space on his car for sponsorship and anyone interested in backing him can contact him by sending an email to
