SCAMMONDEN racer Daniel Lloyd heads for Donington Park this weekend with good reason to be confident.

The 21-year-old topped the times during official testing at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire and goes into the third and fourth races of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship at Donington in peak form.

“It was a really good test, the car was spot on,” said Lloyd.

“The first session was quite greasy to start with, but at the end the track was good enough for some quick times – it wasn’t quite fully dry but it was almost there.

“It was fantastic to end the tests on top – I’m really happy.”

On his return to the venue of his maiden category win at Thruxton, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar posted a best lap of one minute 14.383 seconds around the 2.35-mile circuit – half a second faster than 2012 champion Michael Meadows.

With the pace displayed at Thruxton, added to his podium performance at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit during the season’s opening meeting a fortnight ago, Lloyd heads to Donington confident of battling for more silverware.

“To be honest, even before the Thruxton test I was still really confident about going to Donington and being quick,” he said.

“After Brands I just wanted to get straight back in the car, I’m definitely going out to get a win at the weekend.

“You’ve got to get your laps bang on at Donington, it’s a flowing track so if you mess up one corner you’ve blown it for the next two – getting it right in qualifying is vital.

“It’s a great track to drive, we know we’re fast there, so I’m really looking forward to the races.”

Races three and four of the season are both scheduled for Sunday with the first race to begin at 10am and the second race, which will be screened live on ITV4, ITV4 HD and streamed on the www.itv.com/btcc website, due off at 3.40pm.
