TOP young race driver Daniel Lloyd has switched teams mid-season.

Ahead of the fourth race meeting of the 2009 ELF Renault Clio Cup at Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire, Lloyd’s home event will also mark the youngster’s debut for multiple championship winning squad Total Control Racing.

Having contested the first six races of the 20-round season with Team Pyro, the 17-year-old chose to part company following Donington Park and now has high hopes of continuing his progress after signing a fresh deal with TCR.

The Scammonden-based racer’s first outing with Lee Brookes’ team will come today during the official pre-event practice for the rounds tomorrow and Sunday.

“I’m over the moon to have joined TCR in time for my home races and I’m hopeful we have a chance of achieving our best results of the year to date”, said Lloyd.

“Unfortunately there were a few things out of our control at Donington but a switch of team will enable us to continue our development as the season progresses.

“I’m really excited by the prospect of running with such a fantastic team, TCR’s record in Clios over the years speaks for itself and Lee is obviously a past champion himself. Working with that experience is an amazing opportunity, I can’t wait to be back in the car.”

Looking forward to Oulton with a renewed vigour after linking up with highly-respected TCR, Lloyd is fully focused on achieving season-best results for his portfolio of sponsors, who made the step-up to Clios possible.

Expecting a lot of local support at the picturesque parkland track.

He’s also keen to give some important television exposure to his backers Propack, The Workplace, NW Print, Hoyer UK Ltd and TEAM. ZICO Sports Drinks will remain on the livery
