DENBY DALE teenager Jack Price grabbed some notable scalps at the Hull Auto Club trials meeting.

The 14-year-old National Class B champion braved the torrential rain along with 140 other riders, to compete in the Humberside Trophy Charity Trial at Farndale.

Price warmed up for the coming ACU Class A and B age group national championship series by riding the adult course.

He managed to produce a display that saw him eclipse several top British riders, including Ian Austermuhle, and also test eventual winner Dan Thorpe.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Falcon MCC staged the third round of the novice and beginners trial at Sunfield Stables, Diggle.

At the new venue, owned by club member Bill Francis who watched his son Ben take second place in Class A Youth on the hard course, the entry level was down in numbers for a Falcon event despite a run of cancellations.

Maybe Wimbledon accounted for some absentees however Neil Savage served the aces, apart from tripping up in the first section where the rocky waterfall caught him for three marks.

But the same section also caught challengers Chris Tolson and Simon Slater.

Bill Swallow plotted the brand new trials course opting for six sections tracking the stream bed and two on the grassy bank banks.

The remains of fallen buildings and walls also served to test the riders.

The fourth round of the club championship series takes place on Sunday, July 22, at Moorfield Farm, Cartworth Moor.

The next club night social evening is on August 1 at The Star, Fenay Bridge starting at 8.30pm.
