Heckmondwike Cycle Speedway team faced a testing double-header against Sheffield and Hull.

They came up against Sheffield first at their home Firth Park track and while racing was close the South Yorkshire team eventually won the match 83-67.

In the junior races Heckmondwike won 31-19 against Sheffield.

They then travelled travel to Hull for a Northern Fours League fixture and defeat knocked Heckmondwike down to fifth in the rankings.

In the junior match 9-year-old Bella Naylor scored an impressive 12 points.

That was matched by her older brother William, and Tom Whitwam just missed out on a maximum by one point scoring 15 as they won their match.

Heckmondwike travel to Manchester tomorrow for a match against Astley and Tyldesley (2pm).

Club training is on Wednesday nights at Firth Park from 7.30pm.
