Holmfirth racers Joe Irving and James Lodge both head for to Kent looking for a repeat of their early season successes.

Both teenager Irving, in the Motul British Motostar Championship, and Lodge, in the National Superstock 600 series, won in the opening round of the season at Brands Hatch back in April.

And they both head back to Brands for round five of this year’s British Superbikes series in second place in their respective competitions and desperate to make ground on the leaders.

The season’s opener was on the Indy track, but they return to the Brands Hatch GP circuit – and both are fans of the longer run.

“I am really looking forward to getting back on the bike at Brands,” said Redline Racing KTM rider Irving, who finished second to championship leader Jordan Weaving after a superb ride at Knockhill in round four.

“The lap time on the GP circuit is about double that of the Indy track we used at the first race. “I prefer the full GP circuit and have good form there – I was unbeaten last year both times we visited the circuit.”

And Moto-Breakers Kawasaki rider Lodge, the former twice British 125cc champion, echoes those feelings.

“The next round is Brands GP which I am looking forward,” said Lodge, who again was hampered by ‘arm-pump’ as he took 10 points in Scotland last time out.

“It’s one I love to go to as it is a circuit I always seem to do well on.

“We have been working on the bike and hopefully we will get more speed for it at Brands.”

Tom Tunstall will again be looking for improvements to his performance.

At Knockhill the Denby Dale racer managed to pilot his Doodson Motorsport Kawasaki to 20th slot in the National Superstock 1000 Championship race.

However, this season has been a steady battle to get his new bike right and Tunstall will be hoping for a much stronger showing in Kent.
