Huddersfield racing driver Daniel Lloyd is aiming to continue his recent run of podium finishes when the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship makes its annual visit to Croft this weekend.
The North Yorkshire circuit hosts rounds nine and 10 of the season and Lloyd will look to better his two second place finishes at the last meeting at Cheshire’s Oulton Park Island Circuit.
Those podium placings saw the 21-year-old close to within nine points of third-placed Dean Stoneman in the championship standings.
Since taking victory at Thruxton during round five, Lloyd has found a rich vein of form and with Croft a circuit he enjoys competing at – and one where he has done well in a variety of categories – he is in positive mood.
“I really like Croft, it’s a good drivers’ track and there are plenty of opportunities to try and overtake, so the races should be good” said Lloyd.
“We’ll have a big group of supporters coming along as it’s in Yorkshire, another ‘home’ race, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
Last year at Croft, in his maiden season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship, Lloyd secured a best finish of fourth place but he won’t be satisfied with anything less than podiums this time.
“We haven’t done any testing at Croft this year, track time is really restricted there, so the practice sessions on Friday will be our first run,” explained Lloyd.
“I’ve always gone pretty well at Croft, it was where I won my first car race in Ginetta Junior back in 2008, so hopefully we can have another strong weekend.”
