Huddersfield racer Tom Sykes is feeling relaxed ahead of the eighth round of the World Superbikes Championship.

A trip to Misano in Italy and the Pirelli Riviera di Rimini for round eight beckons and the 2013 champion heads there on the back of his fourth consecutive ‘double’ at Donington Park.

The 50 points culled from the meeting at the Leicestershire circuit moved the 30-year-old back into second place in the championship standings with 237 – trailing Kawasaki Racing Team colleague and reigning champion Jonathan Rea by 56 points.

Sykes and Rea head to the Misano meeting following valuable development work for the future of the Ninja ZX-10R official machine put in at a two-day test at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.

“We got in a really good test overall and did a lot of laps,” said Sykes.

“I am really happy and the pace I got to here is really good and we have continued the good form from recent events and the best thing is that we were able to try things that we are not able to test at race events.”
