TEENAGE racer Daniel Lloyd is eager to impress when the Ginetta Junior Championship rolls into Thruxton this weekend.

It will be the first time the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Stars of Tomorrow scholarship winner has visited the ultra-fast Hampshire circuit and it comes after the 16-year-old achieved his first ever podium finish in cars at Donington Park last time out.

“I can’t wait for the Thruxton races, they’re going to be a lot of fun and if we can perform like we did last weekend then I’m confident we’ll be able to fight for a couple of podiums, which would be fantastic for our championship position,” said Lloyd.

“Qualifying was our main problem during the first few rounds but at Donington we improved that side of things and I was able to get on the podium for the first time as a result.

“I still want to qualify higher up the grid but it will be very tough at Thruxton as I’ve never been there before. I’ll be giving it my best shot though.”

Currently fourth overall in the driver standings, just 32 points shy of the runner-up position with less than half of the season completed, the Huddersfield Grammar School student is confident he will only get stronger with the added experience of every event.
