TEENAGE car racer Daniel Lloyd is looking forward to making his Knockhill debut in this weekend’s rounds 17 and 18 of the Ginetta Junior Championship.

Hungry for a couple of strong results to help his bid for a top three finish the 16-year-old travels to the Fife circuit with confidence knowing that he has been very competitive at other circuits he has never previously visited.

The Scammonden-based racer has high hopes of quickly adapting to the demands of the rollercoaster-like Scottish track for what could turn out to be two key Ginetta Junior encounters.

“Knockhill will be a totally new experience for me but I’m confident it shouldn’t take us long to adapt to the track and hopefully we’ll be able to qualify on the first couple of rows which would be an ideal start,” said Lloyd.

“It would be fantastic to get back on the podium this weekend and although we always aim high, if we can achieve two solid finishes in the top four places it’ll be a job well done.

“Of course I always want to win every time I’m on track but without any prior experience of Knockhill we’re being realistic. Hopefully it’ll go really well.”

Free practice ahead of the ninth event of the 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship season takes place on Friday with a further 15-minute session on Saturday morning followed by qualifying in the afternoon.

Both races take place on Sunday and are expected to be screened live on Freeview, digital satellite and cable channel ITV4 from 3.50.

Provisional 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship positions: 1 Dino Zamparelli, 417, 2 Thomas Carnaby 415, 4 Daniel Lloyd 291.
