HUDDERSFIELD racer Tom Sykes makes his second overseas trip of the season as the FIM Superbike World Championship heads for the Miller Motorsports Park circuit in the USA.

The season started at Australia’s Phillip Island circuit and the trip Stateside is the only other excursion outside Europe this season and it will be another big test for Sykes.

Currently lying 13th in the rankings having taken 31 points this season, Sykes will be looking for a more productive run after having a tough time in the last round at Monza in Italy.

The Kawasaki Racing Team still need time to get their new ZX-10R machine to a competitive level and, with top rider Chris Vermeulen struggling with an 15-month long injury, it’s left to Sykes and talented youngster Joan Lascorz to find their best form.

As is tradition, the Miller Motorsports Round will be held on Monday, as part of the Memorial Day weekend (28-30 May), when USA plays tribute to its armed forces.

As a result, first qualifying takes place on Saturday, the Tissot Superpole on Sunday and the two WSBK races on the Monday.
