SCAMMONDEN racer Daniel Lloyd has received a boost ahead of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship season after being named a British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) ‘Rising Star’.

The 20-year-old Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar is delighted he will go into the new campaign with the prestigious BRDC Rising Star roundel adorning his Porsche 911 GT3 car.

“I am over the moon with becoming a BRDC Rising Star, it is something I have wanted to be ever since I won the Stars Of Tomorrow in karting when I was 15,” said the Huddersfield racer.

“Now I am a Rising Star I’d really like to make the most of it so I can become a full member of the BRDC sometime in the near future.

“It is such a fantastic club to be invited to be in, arguably the most prestigious in the world, and anyone who is somebody in motorsport has been part of the BRDC. I am delighted to be part of it now as well and incredibly proud to represent the club this season.”

The invitation-only programme, open to aspiring professional racing drivers aged 24 and under, is one of the BRDC’s flagship schemes.

Young racers are scouted trackside and, if their performances merit, they are then offered the opportunity to become a ‘Rising Star’.

The opening two rounds of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship will be contested at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent over the weekend March 30-31st.

The season will conclude on October 12-13 with a return visit to Brands Hatch, albeit on the longer Grand Prix Circuit.
