Phoenix Squash Club at Honley have had a tremendous season to bring a successful end to an era for the club.

The club is being take over after being owned for 15 years by Graham Stacey and managed for the last five by Julie Lawton.

From July 1, the new proprietors will be long-standing members James and Andrea Bedford.

Marking the change-over, the teams sponsored by Emereo Windows (owned by Andy Scotcher) brought titles to the Holme Valley.

Phoenix racketball team won Division I of the Kirklees and Calderdale Racketball League with an unbeaten record.

Their squad was captain Tony Robbins, James Bedford, Gary Culverwell and Jim and David Lord.

The Phoenix Men’s squash team won Division II of the Kirklees and Calderdale League, losing only one match and winning 17.

They are looking forward to returning to Division I after just a season in the lower division.

The squash squad included David Lord, Dave Badrock, captain Dan Colbeck, Greg Cross, Jim Lord and Harry Granger
