ROWLEY Lane Junior and Infant school are the first in the Huddersfield area to benefit from an England Athletics initiative.

They are to receive funding and support from CE Electrics to introduce youngsters to athletics.

Under this programme, John McFadzean, a qualified UK Athletics coach and Holmfirth Harriers AC Youth Development Officer is going into local schools introducing the youngsters to the fundamentals of athletics using the recently launched Athletics 365 scheme which is fully supported by England Athletics and UK Athletics.

Athletics 365 is a multi-event young people development programme which introduces athletes to the fundamental skills of athletics which are a vital part of all sports not just athletics.

It is hoped that the skills the youngsters learn at an early age will stay with them and help them to achieve their potential.
