PENNINE Sailing Club are keen to recruit new members for the 2011 season.

The club – based at Winscar Reservoir, Dunford Bridge – race from March through to November.

Each Sunday there’s a stand-alone three-race series (11.30am) while the Thursday evening series runs from May to September (7.30 starts).

Training for beginners, improvers and racers takes place on Saturday afternoons from 1.00.

This year, the club will host the Streaker Class National Championships, so they are keen to attract as many Streaker Class sailors as possible who are keen to practice on the water before the event in June.

Club members sail monohull dinghies with a handicap of more than 950, and they are particularly looking to recruit sailors of the Scorpion, Laser, RS600 and Phantom class dinghies to join these fleets.

Windsurfing members would also be welcome to take advantage of what is a windy venue.

For those without boats, the club own Toppers, Laser, Laser2 and Mirror class dinghies and have a selection of sailboards (all for hire).

Membership inquiries (and to join without paying an entry fee) contact the Commodore, Richard Benson, on 07974 688420.
