RICHARD HANNON’S Scintillo bolted in at Kempton earlier in the week and looks certain to make his presence felt in the sportingbet.com Winter Derby at Lingfield tomorrow.

The son of Fantastic Light showed some seriously smart form as a juvenile, running with credit in the Vintage Stakes, the Royal Lodge Stakes as well as winning a Group One event in Italy.

He failed to get his head in front during his Classic campaign, although he was placed in the rearranged Great Voltigeur Stakes down at Goodwood.

Third on his comeback over this course and distance in February, he improved on that effort to win a Listed prize as he liked on Wednesday.

It is interesting connections have decided to turn him out again so quickly and it will be surprising if he does not at least run into a place.

It could turn out to be a good day for the Hannon camp, with Elnawin looking to hold leading claims in the sportingbet.com Spring Cup.

The three-year-old finished fourth in a typically red-hot Newmarket maiden on his debut and went on to confirm that promise by winning his next three starts, the last of which in Group Three company at Kempton.

He faces no easy task conceding weight all round for his comeback but he clearly has plenty of class and will be hard to beat.
