Huddersfield's Gladiators Boxing Academy hold their annual Christmas amateur show at the Sports Centre on Friday.

There are 20 bouts scheduled with fighters arriving from as far afield at Coventry and Carlisle.

Boxers from the famous Ingle gym in Sheffield will also be involved, writes Luqman Liaqat.

Among the biggest fights on an exciting bill is Rajan Singh Gosal against Bury ABC’s Hasnain Sajjad at 67kg for the junior 67kg GBA belt.

In the same division, Paddy Doyle faces Majubur Ali, from the Ingle Academy.

At super-heavyweight, Karo Jalal takes on Platinum (Bradford) ABC’s Stephen Garber while Marvan Ibrahim fights the talented Joe Ecko from Boarshaw ABC, Rochdale.

Meanwhile Kircho Ruskov goes head to head with national schoolboy champion George Standring.

Gosal said: “The coaches think I am ready to fight for a belt, and hopefully I will win and then be able to look at even bigger and better things.

“I hope to dominate all three rounds. The title is in Huddersfield and I will make sure it stays here.”

Jalal has been with Gladiators since 2012 and already has already fought three bouts.

“I am ready and now I just need to make sure my sharpness is right,” he said.

“Training and sparring with all the other fighters helps me massively because when I make mistakes they catch me with a punch.

“It’s best to learn the hard way!”

Doyle mixes fighting and training others at the Linthwaite gym and pledged: “I am raring to go.

“I will look to box sharp and quick and hopefully entertain the fans.

“The show is an amazing experience especially for the younger boxers coming through.

“It gives them something to look back on even if they only go on to have one or two more fights.

“The ABA Championships are just around the corner and after that I will hopefully be turning professional.”
