THERE was no stopping Ellen Whitaker in the Leading Showjumper of the Year finale as she steered Equimax Ocolado home to the £7,500 first prize at the Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham.

Huddersfield rider Whitaker won after a six horse jump-off, recording the competition’s only double clear round.

Britain’s number one-ranked rider Ben Maher (Wonder Boy III) finished second, with Nick Skelton (Carlo) third .

The win took Whitaker’s prize-money to £17,000 in just 24 hours.

Whitaker had collected £4,500 as winner of the puissance, and she enjoyed more success in the Vinopolis Speed Horse of the Year class.

In-form Whitaker, and Kanselier, edged out Ireland’s Cian O’Connor, on Baloufina, for the £5,000 top prize.

Whitaker recorded a winning time of 50.06 seconds.
